Warren General Hospital has surpassed its “Building on Success” capital campaign goal, announcing $7.1 million raised against a $7 million target. More than $5.4 million of that total came during the campaign’s initial silent phase, before the public push ever began — a quiet show of confidence from the community. The milestone was celebrated alongside donors who gave $25,000 or more.

The funds are designated for capital improvements and new medical technology, not daily operating expenses. That includes major diagnostic upgrades to MRI, CT, fluoroscopy and ultrasound equipment, a new sterile compounding clean room for the Cancer Care Center pharmacy, physician office upgrades, new elevators and patient area improvements. It follows the hospital’s recent federal Critical Access Hospital designation.

Hospital CEO Dan Grolemund called exceeding $7.1 million a defining statement by the community that top tier, compassionate healthcare must stay right here at home. He wasn’t alone in that sentiment — lifelong residents know the drive to Erie or Buffalo is a long one when a loved one needs care now. “When a loved one needs emergency or cancer care, ‘close enough’ isn’t good enough.” Donor recognition displays for four giving levels will be unveiled as projects are completed over the coming year.
