Silver Creek man killed in one-car accident in town of Sheridan...
A man from Silver Creek has died from injuries suffered last Saturday afternoon in a one-car crash in the town of Sheridan. Sheriff's officers say they were called to the scene on Route 20 shortly before 3 p.m. for the accident. Deputies determined that 24 year-old Andre Rosario was westbound and lost control of the vehicle... and, the car went off the road before crashing. Officers say Rosario was transported to a regional hospital for treatment... but, he later succumbed to his injuries. Sheriff Jim Quattrone Monday noted that investigators believe speed, and some kind of distracton, led to the crash.
Cattaragus County man killed in single-car accident in town of Freedom...
A Cattaraugus County man was killed early last Sunday morning in a single-car, rollover crash in the town of Freedom. Sheriff's officers in Little Valley say they were called to the scene on Route 98... near Galen Hill Road... about 5:30 a.m. for the crash. Deputies say 36 year-old Phillip Schramm of Freedom was eastbound when his Explorer went off the road and rolled over once before coming to rest against a tree. Officers say Schramm was ejected from the SUV... and, EMS workers attempted life-saving measures... but, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Schramm's body was taken to Olean General Hospital for an autopsy.
City man arrested for allegedly causing "substantial" damage to a tractor-trailer while stealing it's radiator...
A man from Jamestown has been arrested for allegedly trying to steal a radiator and damaging a tractor-trailer at an eastside business. City police were called to the scene about 7:30 a.m. Sunday for a criminal mischief-in-progress. Officers say they located 30-year-old Zachary Graves fleeing the area on foot on the railroad tracks. Further investigation found that Graves had "substantially" damaged the parked tractor trailer. He was taken into custody on charges of second-degree criminal mischief... fourth-degree attempted grand larceny... possession of burglar tools, and third-degree criminal trespass for trying to escape on the tracks. Graves was held pending arraignment.

A state lawmaker from the area says allegations against the person suspected of plotting to attack the State Capitol building in Albany are a "sobering reminder" that threats of terrorism and political violence have to be taken seriously. State Senator George Borrello praised the work of the FBI and State Police to thwart the alleged plot by 35-year-old Jessica Bowie. Borrello says he would like to think that Bowie's alleged premeditated actions to be an isolated incident. However... he adds that she pledged her support for ISIS, and that "anti-American rhetoric that is often spewed" by some members of the Senate and Assembly has an impact... in particular those from the far left, and the mayor of New York City, who himself is an Islamist. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York alleges that Bowie gained possession of what she believed to be an explosive device with the intent of targeting the State Capitol and state senators. Borrello hopes it's a wake-up call for his colleagues... because there are others like her. He says added vigilance is needed as we approach the 25th anniversary of the "9/11" terrorist attacks. Borrello... a Republican from Sunset Bay... adds he is grateful Bowie is being charged at the federal level... where she faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Jamestown man arrested for giving police a phony ID...
A city man has been arrested for lying about his identity to police following a "suspicious person" investigation last weekend. Jamestown police say they were called to an address on the southeast corner of the city shortly after 10 a.m. last Saturday. Officers say they made contact with 40 year-old Jonathan Yates. However... Yates allegedly lied because he had a Felony warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody for false personation... and, taken to the city jail and held pending arraignment.
City man arrested as fugitive from justice in town of Mina...
A Jamestown man has been arrested in the town of Mina for being an alleged fugitive from justice in Pennsylvania. Sheriff's officers say they responded to a property damage accident on Interstate-86 shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday... and, identified one of the people at the scene at 49 year-old Henry Stovall, Jr. Deputies say their investigation found that Stovall was wanted in the state of Pennsylvania. He was arrested... and, taken to the county jail on one count of being a fugitive from justice. Stovall was jailed pending his extradition hearing back to Pennsylvania.
Mililiani, Hi wins BRWS Championship over Atlantic Shore, NJ...
It was a 13-year-old Babe Ruth World Series Championship Game for the ages last Saturday morning in Jamestown. The title game of the 2026 series went to an extra inning... tied at 1-1 between Mililiani, Hi... and, Atlantic Shore, NJ. Both teams were unbeaten going into the championship game... but, Hawaii score 3 runs in the top of the eighth inning... and held on to win 4-2 in eight innings. The game was moved up to a 10 a.m. start due to the threat of inclement weather later in the day. The host Jamestown team... which was eliminated by a 10-0 loss to Tallahassee, Fla. Thursday... wound up 3-2 in the tournament.
